Deployment
GenCap deploys highly experienced Senior Gender Advisers (SGAs) who support humanitarian operations as an inter-agency resource at the P-5 level.

SGAs typically have hands-on senior coordination and leadership experience, expertise in gender equality programming and approaches, and experience in the elaboration of gender equality strategies and action plans, as well as the necessary skills to influence decision-making in a complex operational environment.
Once deployed, SGAs work under the supervision of the Resident Coordinator (RC) and Humanitarian Coordinator (HC) (in some cases under the supervision of the RC) and in close cooperation with the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) and all key stakeholders.
The role of an SGA is to strengthen and support operations. An SGA does not perform the work individual humanitarian partners are expected to do as part of their commitment to move forward with gender equality goals, including ensuring that adequate gender expertise is embedded in each operation.
