IASC briefing: Update from the IASC Gender Reference Group and the Gender Accountability Framework Report
Geneva
At a time when crises across the world grow more complex and protracted, the need for humanitarian responses to adequately understand and respond to the gender dimensions of crisis becomes ever more pertinent. While normative standards and frameworks reflect increasing levels of gender responsiveness, the reality on the ground shows uneven progress. The briefing will be an opportunity to learn about ongoing efforts of the IASC and the Gender Reference Group to bridge the gap between commitments and their implementation and key findings from the first-ever Gender Accountability Framework Report. The briefing will highlight the key areas of progress as well as persisting gaps in advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in humanitarian action.
The work of the IASC Gender Reference Group laid the foundations for the gender priorities of the IASC Results Group on Accountability and Inclusion, under which it now sits.
