The Inter-Agency Humanitarian Evaluation (IAHE) on Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and Girls (GEEWG) provides an independent assessment of the degree to which GEEWG has been implemented and integrated within IASC humanitarian responses since 2017. It identifies gaps, best practices and lessons learned to further integrate GEEWG. This IASC briefing was an opportunity to hear from evaluation team members and discuss key findings, including what worked well, what can be improved and recommendations for strengthening gender equality in humanitarian response.

Dr. Terrence Jantzi
Dr. Jantzi has more than 35 years of practitioner and scholarly experience in development, humanitarian response, and peacebuilding programming. He is a senior evaluation specialist for the KonTerra Group, an independent company which implements evaluations for a wide range of UN agencies and other humanitarian and development clients. He In addition to the IAHE for GEEWG, Dr. Jantzi most recently led evaluations for WFP (Indonesia Country Strategic Plan Evaluation), UNICEF (Kosovo Country Programme Evaluation, Afghanistan Community Based Education Evaluation), Peacebuilding Fund (Somalia Portfolio review), and OCHA (Duty of Care Evaluation). Prior to his role at KonTerra, Dr. Jantzi worked for several international NGOs including World Vision, Terre des Hommes, and the Mennonite Central Committee.
Ms. Mariangela Bizzarri
Ms. Bizzarri is an experienced international consultant with expertise on gender, protection and gender-based violence (GBV) developed through 20 years of work in humanitarian and development contexts, the academia and the private sector. Ms. Bizzarri specializes in research and analysis, training design and delivery, and strategic planning—successfully combining practical field experience with solid research and analytical skills. Through GenderConsult, which was founded in 2011, Ms. Bizzarri has been successfully providing integrated responses to client organizations working together with professionals from multiple backgrounds.
Mr. Ali Buzurukov
Mr. Buzurukov works with OCHA’s Strategic Planning, Guidance and Evaluation Section, where he manages the section’s evaluation and oversight portfolio. Prior to this role Ali worked as a Head of Analysis and Monitoring Unit in New York and as Humanitarian Affairs Officer for OCHA’s Regional Office for Central Asia and Caucuses. Prior to this he was an emergency health officer with UNICEF in Northern Pakistan and with UNFPA’s Emergency Response Section in Geneva managing reproductive health progammes for refugees and IDPs.
