11.30 Introductory Remarks
Ms. Christelle Loupforest, Head of the IASC/ECHA Secretariat, opens the meeting and introduces the speakers.
11.30 – 11.55 The new ReliefWeb
Mark Dalton, ReliefWeb Coordinator, will give a presentation on the new ReliefWeb platform, which has been built with the latest open source technology and offers a new design, more intuitive navigation, better content curation and improved features that should make it easier for users to keep up with humanitarian events and issues, jobs and training. Mark will also brief on the current thinking around what new online tools could - or should - be integrated into the new platform later in the year. Ideas and suggestions will be welcome.
11.55 – 12.20 Communicating with beneficiaries in Haiti
Leonard Doyle, IOM Haiti Media & Communications, will present on initiatives for two-way communication with beneficiaries in the context of accountability, specifically highlighting the 'Haiti Reconstruction Fund' project: www.iomhaiti.net/haitifund4/#.
12.20 – 12.45 Reaching out to beneficiaries: the cases of Indonesia and Sri Lanka
Agnes Asekenye-Oonyu, Chief, OCHA Asia and Pacific Section, just returned from a mission to Indonesia and Sri Lanka, where she met with humanitarian partners, government officials and beneficiaries. Agnes will brief on how different partners reach out to beneficiaries, including building partnerships prior to disasters (Indonesia) as well as attempts by the government in Sri Lanka to reach out to those displaced by the war and floods.
