Humanitarian Situation in Ethiopia

Mr. Paul Hebert, Head of the OCHA Office Ethiopia and Deputy to the Humanitarian Coordinator briefed the IASC on the humanitarian situation in the country. His presentation reviewed the humanitarian situation in 2005 and the challenges for 2006. In particular, he assessed the state of food insecurity and assistance and the political fallout from the recent elections. In a second presentation he assessed the current border tensions between Ethiopia and Eritrea and possible humanitarian implications.
