“Assessing the Impact of the Grand Bargain on Local and National NGOs: Analysis of Voices from Local Leaders” presents findings from a survey conducted by NEAR. The survey was distributed among NEAR members and networks and received responses from 284 participants representing a diverse range of local actors from the Global South.

Some key highlights from the report include:

  1. Awareness and Use of the Grand Bargain: The report shows an improvement in the awareness of the Grand Bargain among local actors compared to 2020, with 71% of respondents indicating familiarity with the initiative this year. However, there are still significant gaps in awareness, both within and across countries, highlighting the need for increased outreach.
  2. Perceived Impact of the Grand Bargain: While 60% of participants believe that the Grand Bargain has helped improve the way humanitarian aid is provided, opinions are mixed, with 25% expressing uncertainty and 15% stating that it has not led to improvements.
  3. Challenges and Priorities: The report identifies key challenges and priorities that Grand Bargain signatories should address. According to respondents, including diverse LNNGOs in humanitarian policy, practice, coordination mechanisms, and capacity strengthening are top priorities.
  4. Role of the Grand Bargain in the Nexus Conversation: 68% of respondents believe the Grand Bargain should play a role in the nexus conversation, contributing to discussions and coordination efforts among humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding sectors.
