IASC Weekly (NY): IASC Stakeholder Consultation on the Joint Standards Initiative

This session will provide an opportunity to influence the future of humanitarian standards.
The Joint Standards Initiative (JSI) is a process launched by three leading humanitarian standards bodies (Sphere Project, HAP International and People In Aid) to seek greater coherence and in turn to improve the quality and accountability of humanitarian action.
At the heart of the process is a wide ranging consultation with stakeholders to gather views on humanitarian standards. The key lines of enquiry are:
· The current use of humanitarian standards
· Challenges in implementing humanitarian standards
· Issues around compliance with humanitarian standards
· The future of humanitarian standards
Robert Schofield (JSI Coordinator based in London) and Julien Schopp (InterAction) will facilitate the discussion. This event is part of a global series of consultations in; Nairobi, Bangkok, Dakar, Cairo, Dubai, Panama, Copenhagen, Geneva, Brussels and London over the next month.
