I. Cooperation between Non-State Humanitarian Relief Providers and the Private Sector
There is growing interest in strengthening collaboration between humanitarian organizations and the corporate sector. Companies might be able to deliver services more effectively and efficiently while genuinely respecting basic humanitarian principles. If it is in the best interests of the beneficiaries, should companies play a stronger role? Considering increasing numbers of natural disasters and financial constraints, how can humanitarian actors benefit from economies of scale, business methods, expertise, innovation and creativity of the private sector? Highlighting UN and NGO experiences, this meeting will focus on recent developments of cooperation between humanitarian relief providers and the private sector.
