Deputy Humanitarian Chiefs Visit Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, 27 November 2023 – A delegation of Deputy Humanitarian Chiefs from the 
Inter-Agency Standing Committee is starting today a three-day visit to Burkina Faso.

Joyce Msuya, Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, Office for the Coordination for Humanitarian Affairs; Carl Skau, Deputy Executive Director, World Food Programme; and Mirela Shuteriqi, Director for Policy, International Council of Voluntary Agencies, will meet with senior government officials, community representatives, humanitarian and development partners, and the diplomatic community. 

The purpose of the visit is to draw attention to the crisis in Burkina Faso and to support initiatives promoting durable solutions for crisis-affected communities. This includes advocating for continued humanitarian efforts and increased support for resilience and facilitating the integration of humanitarian action with development objectives.
