IASC Early Warning - Early Action Report, March - June 2006

Published Date
Dear Colleagues, The Early Warning – Early Action Report is presented to the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) as an inter-agency tool to foster enhanced preparedness and early humanitarian response for potential new crises or dramatic changes in existing ones. It highlights those situations for which additional inter-agency action is needed within the coming 4 months, based on assessments and judgements provided by staff of IASC member agencies at field and HQ levels. OCHA's contribution to this process is based on extensive field level consultation. We would like to thank the 25 OCHA field offices that provided projections of potential developments and assessments of preparedness levels for their respective countries/regions. The report comprises four components: a) Global Highlights: potential emergencies of concern by hazard type b) Global Summary: potential emergencies by region c) Early Warning - Early Action report: Projections, humanitarian consequences and triggers for potential emergencies d) Minimum Preparedness Actions ( sheet 2): a checklist of possible actions for IASC country teams Please visit the page of the Sub-Working Group on Preparedness and Contingency Planning to view the report (Log in required). Yours sincerely, The IASC Sub-Working Group on Preparedness and Contingency Planning
